For the first time in the 19-year history of the Bikes For Kids community program, Alpharetta will serve as the host for ‘Domestique Day’. The single service day on Saturday, December 13 to build and restore hundreds of bicycles that will be redistributed as holiday gifts for families in need.

The new location for Domestique Day will be staged at Preston Ridge Community Center, on Preston Ridge Road in Alpharetta near the Big Creek Greenway. The facility is owned and managed by the City of Alpharetta’s Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services department.

Led by local advocacy group Bike Alpharetta, Bikes For Kids has provided 5,470 new and refurbished bicycles and tricycles to North Fulton Community Charities’ Toyland program, with all items used as holiday gifts for pre-approved area families across multiple counties.

Last year, Toyland served more than 1,300 children in our community, with bicycles still the most-requested gift item and Bikes For Kids providing 322 bicycles and tricycles at no cost. As a local non-profit which focuses on safety, Bike Alpharetta also provides youth helmets to accompany bikes.

“We’re incredibly grateful for our continued partnership with Bike Alpharetta and the Bikes For Kids program. Each year, their dedication brings joy and dignity to hundreds of children through Toyland, and the impact of a bicycle, a symbol of freedom, fun, and possibility, cannot be overstated. With Domestique Day coming to Alpharetta, we’re excited to see even more community members come together to make the holidays brighter for our neighbors in need,” said Syliva Cardona, vice president of community engagement at NFCC.
